I grew up in a place with few role models for success beyond superhero
athletes and musicians. I was just a kid from Harlem, who thought that without phenomenal athletic or lyrical prowess, my only option for success and leadership was in the streets.
They were too buttoned up, too far from the life – I had to even imagine
as a possibility. I didn’t see an authentic role model, pathway to achieve those simple things.
I felt too broken for that. Too disadvantaged.
They are the men and women going to college,
despite their disadvantages, to empower themselves
with education.
They are the men and women raising families, despite
their brokenness, and managing a healthy home life.
They are the men and women, despite their doubts, building, supporting, and working in innovative businesses.
These are the real superheroes.
And by Diversifying the Face
of Leadership, we get to take off
their masks at last, and see them
for who they truly are.
Education for Black American children is a cornerstone of empowerment and progress. It is not only a means to acquire knowledge but also a vital tool for dismantling systemic barriers and achieving equality. Providing quality education tailored to their unique needs is crucial, fostering an environment where their rich cultural heritage is celebrated and integrated into the curriculum.
Access to well-funded schools, experienced educators, and diverse learning resources is essential to ensure that Black American children have the same opportunities and outcomes as their peers. By investing in their education, we not only unlock their potential but also contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society, where every child can thrive, regardless of their background.
I had no idea that my life would be changed in such a dramatic way.
I found like-minded professionals aspiring for greatness who are building businesses to create a legacy for themselves and their families.
